Satay Skewer Recipe (Makes apprx 80 skewers)

What you will need:

  • 1.5 kgs any meat (chicken, beef, lamb or pork)
  • 200g Mama Tan’s Satay Marinade
  • 1 – 2 tbsp. sunflower or vegetable oil
  • Satay on a bamboo skewer (best for BBQ)

To prepare:

  1. Slice in strips approximately 0.5 cm thick pieces of meat and put in a bowl, add Mama Tan’s Satay Marinade and coated well. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for a minimum of one hour or better yet overnight.
  2. Thread the meat onto skewers approximately half way up each skewer. Use as many skewers as you need (make approximately 80 skewers).
  3. Before cooking, brush on either side with sunflower or vegetable oil. Place on a BBQ 2 -3 minutes either side or until thoroughly cooked. Alternatively, can be cooked under a grill, frying pan or in a hot oven with or without skewer for about 2 – 3 minutes and turn regularly until thoroughly cooked.
  4. Serve with fresh diced cucumber, thickly slice bread, cut into cubes and Mama Tan’s Satay Peanut Sauce.

(Hints and tips)

Soak skewers in water for a few hours or overnight before use to prevent them from burning quickly.
